The Academic Advising Center is here to help with registration, adding or dropping classes, discussing academic difficulties, and more. Our first-year advisors provide foundational skills, resources, and academic support for students during their initial 30 credits for four-year degree programs.

Academic coaching is a partnership between students who seek to improve their study strategies and peer coaches who are trained to listen, ask thought-provoking questions, help students identify resources, and set goals.

Career Services is here to help you pave your post-college path. Meet with our advisor to explore career options, perfect your resume and cover letter, prepare applications for internships and jobs, practice interviewing, make connections with employers, and take control of your future!

The Communication Center helps UAF students and faculty prepare for course-related oral presentations, speeches, interviews and speaking engagements or public presentations outside the classroom.

Math tutoring is available through the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Math Services, and the for students enrolled in lower division UAF MATH and STAT courses.

A counselor from UAF’s Student Health and Counseling Center are available at the Student Success Center. They can assist with various personal and interpersonal issues and connect students to mental health workshops, support groups, and other resources. Walk-in counseling is available without a scheduled appointment in room 616.

The UAF Writing Center has launched a new partnership to better support students with research-based writing. Drake Jesse, visiting assistant professor of library science and instruction librarian, is now available for one-on-one research consultations in the Writing Center on the 6th floor of the Rasmuson Library in the Student Success Center.

Drake offers expert support for students at any stage of the research process—from finding credible sources to refining research questions. His drop-in hours at the Writing Center are Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and students can also book appointments — either in person or via Zoom — at .

This service is a valuable resource for undergraduates working on final projects and for graduate students developing theses and dissertations. Don’t miss the chance to get expert help! 

As a national test center, UAF Student Success Center Testing Services administers paper-and-pencil and computer-based exams for current and prospective students.  

The Writing Center can help in all phases of the writing process—brainstorming and generating topics, organizing ideas, developing research strategies, using citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, and more), and editing for clarity and correctness.
