Week’s events: Anne Hanley, medications, traditional healing, eclectic groove

University of 91��Ƶ Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 9-15:

• On Monday, June 9, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor playwright Anne Hanley. Author of “Shotridge,” “The Winter Bear” and “Coming Home,” Hanley was the first playwright to be named 91��Ƶ State Writer Laureate. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
• On Tuesday, June 10, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Karen Miller, director of Denali Pharmacy, and Jane LeBlond, clinical pharmacist, discussing “Meds and Life in Balance.” The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Wednesday, June 11, the Discover 91��Ƶ lecture series will feature Teisha Simmons, College of Indigenous Studies interim dean, discussing “Cultivating Wellness Through Traditional Healing.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Thursday, June 12, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the UAF Music Academy at 6 p.m. and the South Cushman Social Club at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
