NextGen Food and Climate Symposium set for Sept. 25, 27

The University of 91ÊÓÆµ Cooperative Extension Service will host a free public symposium on climate change and its effects on regional and global food security. Nancy Fresco, a climate change researcher at UAF's International Arctic Research Center, will lead the two-part symposium on Zoom. Sessions are set for Sept. 25 and will repeat on Sept. 27.

The Center for Student Engagement will be kicking off Humans vs. Zombies on Sunday, Sept. 14, running through Saturday, Sept. 20. The event is a large-scale game of tag using Nerf blasters along with their orange bandanas to complete missions and battle all across campus in a zombie apocalypse setting.

The UA Scholarship Process Improvement Team has been busy this summer innovating the scholarship process. The UA Foundation, UA, UAA, UAF and UAS have worked collaboratively to improve students' educational journeys by making scholarships more accessible, timely and effective. The UA Foundation Board of Directors has approved a formal Scholarship Management Policy, in alignment with the UA Board of Regents' Student First Attainment Framework. In addition, we are on schedule for the new scholarship management system, AWARDED, to go live on Oct. 1, 2025. The Financial Aid Offices and the UA Foundation are hosting town halls to introduce staff and faculty to the new platform on Sept. 23, 2025.
