All UAF buildings will be locked during the winter hard closure Dec. 25 through Jan. 4. Requests for new card access and unlock service by the UAF Police Department will also be unavailable during this time period.

Friday Focus: Gratitude gets us through

As my Friday Focus deadline was approaching, I found myself unsure what to write about. Then I walked into my office and found an unexpected thank-you note from our fabulous leaders at ASUAF. Later the same day, we faced two significant, unplanned challenges: reduced heat in campus buildings and a hot water outage, followed by a flood in the Gruening Building that displaced students, staff and faculty during finals!

Registration for spring courses for kids and adults opens on Dec. 12. Non-credit adult course offerings include knitting, pickleball, sewing, ceramics, weaving, photo editing, rock climbing, and fitness. Registration for 2026 field courses at Toolik Field Station also opens on Dec. 12.

Winter break parking lot closures

Waiver renewal notice for spouses and dependents
December 09, 2025
Spouses, FIP, and dependents of full-time faculty and staff who received a tuition waiver request for fall 2025 will not need to complete a separate request for spring 2026. Spouses, FIP, and dependents of adjunct faculty members will need to complete a waiver.
