Becoming a critically reflective teacher

Aug. 25, 2025

One of the best ways to understand the impact of our teaching practices is to ask for feedback. In his book, Becoming a Critically Reflective Teacher, Dr. Stephen Brookfield offers a framework for facilitating feedback and reflection on our teaching. With over 45 years of experience in higher education, Brookfield offers evidence-based and immediately practicable advice to improve student engagement, learning outcomes, and critical thinking.

In the 2025-26 academic year, UAF’s Rasmuson Library and Center for Teaching and Learning are facilitating a common reading group with a focus on Brookfield’s landmark text. Register for one or all of the below sessions to join colleagues for discussion of a short (10-15 pages) reading and application of the tools/perspectives to your teaching practice.

There are four different reading sessions scheduled for this book. They run through November 2025. Registration is open for any or all sessions.
