Are you a 4-H youth interested in raising a beef project animal? Join us Saturday, Oct. 3, for an introduction to beef designed for youth and families considering their first steer project.

Youth will learn about:

• Selecting your first 4-H beef project
  
• Beef breeds and breed characteristics
  
• Body conformation and structure
  
• What to look for when evaluating a potential project animal
  
• How conformation can affect growth, finish and marketability
  
• Judging and evaluating finished beef
  

The workshop takes place in Delta Junction at Blue Creek Cattle, 4614 Tanana Loop Extension, beginning at 1 p.m.

The 40 Below Mooseketeers typically meet the first and third Sunday of each month, with the Cloverbuds meeting at 11 a.m. and regular club members at 1 p.m., at the UAF University Park Building, 1000 University Ave., in Rooms 150 and/or 154. (Meeting schedule subject to change.)

Typical club projects include: Arts & crafts; communication arts; clothing & textiles; quilting; sewing construction; breads; foods & nutrition; foods preservation; foods safety; leadership skills development; and introductory 4-H projects for Cloverbuds (ages 5-7).

The Frosty Tails 4-H Club meets weekly on Sundays, 2-4 p.m., alternating between Fairbanks at Timber Creek Senior Center (activity room), 3415 Trothno Lane, and Salcha at Frosty Tails Ranch. Please contact a leader for a full agenda of activities. (Meeting schedule subject to change.)

Typical club projects include: Horse/pony; horseless horse project (no horse required); beef; dairy cattle; sheep; goats; swine; birds & poultry; rabbits/cavies; dogs; veterinary science; arts & crafts; homesteading skills; leadership & personal development; introductory 4-H projects for Cloverbuds (ages 5-7); and community/volunteer service.
