What are the eligibility requirements?

Eligible participants must have a bachelor's degree, possess experience conducting research, and be interested in mentoring undergraduate students in academic and career pathways in biomedical research and/or STEM fields.

Is there a cost to participate in the program?

No, the program is no-cost to all selected participants. Travel expenses for in-person events will also be covered.

What is the time commitment?

Approximately 12 months with an anticipated 4-5 hours of time per month during the academic year & 2-3 hours per month during the summer.

Is there an award for completion?

Yes! Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Are there credit hours offered or continuing education credits?

Not at this time.

How will the courses be delivered?

Course material will be delivered synchronously and asynchronously online, so as to offer as much flexibility to participants as possible. Each participant will receive a handbook as well to guide them through.

What happens if I need to take a break during the program due to an emergency or other personal situation?

We understand that life happens. Each participant is unique and so may be their situation, which is why occurrences will be handled on a case by case basis. Should the need arise, please reach out to the Program Coordinator for assistance.

Do I need to be an enrolled student at UAF to apply or participate?

No, it is an open application.

Do I need to be an 91��Ƶ resident to apply?

No.

What happens if my application is not received in time or I am not selected?

While we wish we could accommodate every applicant, we are limited to 15 participants per cohort at this time. Applications may be kept on file for future years.
