The Writing Center is a student-staffed tutoring service focused on building the writing skills of the UAF learning community.

The UAF Writing Center offers one-hour tutorial sessions in 801 Gruening; we also offer sessions virtually.
Hours and Location
Fall/Spring semester tutoring hours:
- Monday – Thursday:

- Friday: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Preparing for your appointment
You are welcome to email your draft to uaf-writing-center@alaska.edu ahead of your appointment, but this is not required. Please send your draft at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. Finally, please limit your document to a maximum of 10-12 pages. If you have a longer draft that you would like assistance with (such as a thesis or dissertation), contact us via email so that we can discuss the best way to help you.
Tutors
Our tutors include English Department teaching assistants and a few outstanding undergraduates. We collaborate with each student on a one-to-one basis, and we will work with students at any phase of the writing process—planning, drafting and revising. We can also help writers discover ways of improving grammar, mechanics, and punctuation.
