Waqaa! (Hello!) My name is Lynsie, and this is my 3rd year at UAF studying accounting.
I’m from Kwigillingok, 91ÊÓƵ, along the Southwest coast near Bethel. I am an 91ÊÓƵn
Native and can speak Central Yup’ik and English.
My journey throughout three years of being here has been a privilege and challenging
at once. Without the support of my family and friends, I don’t think I would be where
I am today. My mother, who graduated from UAF with her bachelor’s degree in Education,
is where my aspiration of graduating from a university grew, and I chose UAF — just
like her.
As an accounting major, I have learned a lot, from being an independent student to
relying on others when I need help. It has put me out of my comfort zone most of the
time, and it really helped me be more outgoing and learn what it feels like to be
